This is a system to adjust electricity rates according to the amount of fluctuation in the average fuel price over a three-month period from 27,400 yen/kiloliter (the crude oil equivalent fuel price that is the basis for the April 2019 electricity rate review) in order to reflect fluctuations in thermal fuel costs (crude oil, liquefied natural gas, and coal) in electricity rates as quickly as possible.
For customers who have contracts based on Terms and Conditions of Electricity Supply and supply and Terms and Conditions of Supply and Demand Contract, no upper limit will be set for fuel cost adjustments.
Fuel adjustment unit price price fluctuates monthly based on the average fuel price calculated from the prices of crude oil, liquefied natural gas, and coal in trade statistics. If the average fuel price falls below 27,400 yen, electricity rates will be adjusted downward, and if it exceeds this amount, electricity rates will be adjusted upward.
As a past example, in fiscal 2022, Fuel adjustment unit price increased due to rising global fuel prices.
- The graph shows Fuel adjustment unit price for customers whose contracts are based on Terms and Conditions of Electricity Supply and supply and Terms and Conditions of Supply and Demand Contract that do not set an upper limit for fuel cost adjustment.
Please note that the unit prices for February and March 2023 do not reflect the discount provided by the government's "Electricity and Gas Price Sudden Change Mitigation Measures Project."
